Question 1

Can I use frozen strawberries?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Fresh strawberries will give you the best texture, but frozen strawberries work well too. Thaw them completely, drain away any excess liquid, and pat them dry before folding them into the batter. This helps prevent the bread from becoming too moist.

Question 2

What wheat berries work best for Strawberry Bread with Fresh Milled Flour?

Accepted Answer

A blend of hard white and soft white wheat berries creates the best texture for this quick bread. Hard white wheat provides enough structure to support the fresh strawberries, while soft white wheat keeps the crumb soft, tender, and light.

Question 3

How do I keep Strawberry Bread from becoming soggy?

Accepted Answer

The key is controlling the moisture from the strawberries. Dice the berries into small pieces, pat them dry before folding them into the batter, and don't skip the batter rest. These simple steps help create a tender loaf with evenly distributed strawberries.

Question 4

Can I make this bread without the glaze?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely! The strawberry glaze adds a beautiful finishing touch and a little extra sweetness, but the bread is just as delicious without it. Enjoy a slice for breakfast with a little butter or serve it as a simple snack with your favorite cup of coffee or tea.

Question 5

Can I make this recipe into muffins?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Divide the batter evenly among lined muffin cups, filling each about two-thirds full. Bake until the tops are lightly golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. They're perfect for breakfast, brunch, or freezing for later.
