When strawberry season arrives, this strawberry frappe is one of the first things I think about making. You can make this recipe with or without coffee, and even out of strawberry season, because it uses frozen strawberries. I personally use Teecino for any of my coffee recipes, for one coffee just doesn’t agree with me, and my already active brain just doesn’t need that extra boost.

If you enjoy strawberries as much as I do, you might also like this strawberry shortcake biscuit style made with fresh milled flour, creamy strawberry cheesecake popsicles, homemade strawberry tea, and simple strawberry salad with strawberry vinaigrette.

Ingredients

  • Frozen strawberries – Give the frappe its thick, frosty texture and strong strawberry flavor without needing extra ice.
  • Milk – Blends everything smoothly and keeps the drink creamy without becoming too heavy.
  • Heavy whipping cream – Adds richness and creates that classic strawberry and cream frappe texture.
  • Ice cubes – Help create the chilled, blended consistency that makes it feel like a café-style frappe.
  • Granulated sugar – Sweetens the strawberries and balances their natural tartness.
  • Vanilla extract – Rounds out the flavor and softens the sharp edges of the berries.
  • Coffee or Teecino (optional) – Adds a subtle depth if you prefer a strawberry coffee-style frappe.
  • Strawberry simple syrup – Drizzled inside the glass and over the top for extra berry flavor and presentation.

Variations & Add-Ins

  • Chocolate Strawberry Frappe – Blend in 1 tablespoon of chocolate syrup or drizzle chocolate inside the glass before pouring.
  • Strawberry Cheesecake Frappe – Add 1–2 tablespoons of softened cream cheese to the blender for a thicker, dessert-style version.
  • Strawberry Matcha Frappe – Blend in ½ teaspoon matcha powder for a layered strawberry and green tea flavor.
  • Extra Thick Version – Use slightly less milk or add a few more frozen strawberries for a thicker consistency.

Recipe Tips

Use frozen strawberries, not fresh – Frozen berries create the thick, frosty texture without watering down the drink.

Blend until completely smooth – Let the blender run long enough so there are no strawberry chunks or ice bits left.

Adjust thickness as needed – Add a splash of milk if too thick or a few extra frozen strawberries if you prefer it thicker.

Taste before pouring – Strawberries vary in sweetness, so adjust the sugar slightly if needed.

Chill the glass first – A cold glass helps the frappe stay thick longer.

Drizzle syrup before pouring – Swirl strawberry syrup inside the glass first for a café-style look and extra berry flavor.

How To Make Strawberry Frappe

Step 1: Brew the coffee*optional – Brew 1 cup of strong coffee or a caffeine-free alternative such as Teecino Dark Roast. Allow it to cool to room temperature before using so it doesn’t melt the ice and thin the frappe. Coffee can be skipped; this is optional.

Step 2: Prepare the glass – If using strawberry syrup, drizzle it around the inside of a tall glass and place the glass in the refrigerator while you blend. This helps the drizzle set slightly and keeps the frappe colder longer.

Step 3: Add ingredients to the blender – To a high-speed blender, add the frozen strawberries, milk, heavy whipping cream, ice cubes, sugar, vanilla extract, and the cooled coffee*.

Step 4: Blend until thick and smooth – Start blending on medium, then increase to high speed. Blend for 30–60 seconds, or until the mixture is completely smooth with no visible strawberry pieces or ice bits. The texture should be thick but pourable.

Step 5: Check the consistency – If the mixture is too thick to blend properly, add a small splash of milk and blend again. If it feels thinner than you prefer, add a few more frozen strawberries and pulse briefly.

Step 6: Pour and Serve – Pour the frappe into the prepared glass. Top with whipped cream and drizzle additional strawberry syrup over the top. Serve with a straw while thick and frosty for the best texture and flavor.

Freezing & Storage

  • Best enjoyed fresh – This strawberry frappe has the best texture right after blending while it is thick and frosty.
  • Short-term refrigeration – If needed, store leftovers in a sealed jar in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Stir or shake well before serving, as separation is natural.
  • Freezing option – Pour leftovers into a freezer-safe container and freeze. When ready to use, let it soften slightly at room temperature, then re-blend to restore the smooth texture.
  • Do not reheat – This drink is meant to be served cold. Warming will change the texture and cause separation.

Notes

Use fully frozen strawberries – Frozen berries create the thickest, creamiest texture. If using fresh strawberries, add a handful of ice to help thicken the drink.
Cool the coffee before blending – Warm coffee will thin the mixture and melt the frozen ingredients too quickly. Let it cool completely for the best consistency.
Blend until completely smooth – Scrape down the sides of the blender as needed to ensure everything incorporates evenly and no frozen chunks remain.
Best enjoyed immediately – This drink has the ideal texture right after blending. It will naturally thin as it sits.
Store leftovers properly – Refrigerate up to 24 hours in an airtight container. Re-blend before serving to restore the creamy texture.
